Fall in Texas Heat

It’s the second day of September, but it’s still 90 degrees outside. While this is actually a nice break & we consider this nice weather, it’s still hot, so it’s still summer. This is that time of the year where Texas doesn’t quite line up with the rest of the country in temperature, so we don’t quite line up in trends. It’s just too hot for those chunky sweaters! On a previous post I talked about a couple ways to blend the seasons, & staying on trend for fall but not overheating!

This is one is one of my all time favorites, especially for the office. This look is perfect work wear! The sleeveless midi length dress with a slight V neck comes from spring & summer. It was easy to wear in the office, for a more conservative brunch, or just a casual errand dress with sneakers. But the light grey color makes it perfect to transition into early fall. Throw on a jacket & it immediately becomes more Fall than summer.

The jacket is one of my go to, light leather jackets for these mild Texas winters. I normally gravitate towards lighter colors when it comes to staples like these because they brightens up a typically dark colored season. Wear it over your shoulders for a chic look, without being too hot!

Finally, the heels are obviously very spring & summer, but this is what makes the whole look a little lighter & brighter. While the rest of the world is transitioning into cardigans & sweaters, Texans typically don’t believe summer is over until there is a chill in the air. So summer wear doesn’t get packed up until about October. I know, some of y’all think it’s crazy to wear any bright colors or flowy tanks after Labor Day. But if you lived in this Texas heat, you would think otherwise!
